In today's economy people are facing financial hardship at every turn. Many can barely keep their homes let alone a luxury item such as a boat. The boating industry is taking a hit with a downturn in sales, an upturn in unemployment, and a U-turn in inventory.
We have seen customers close their doors. Corporations have consolidated their assets. Distributors are being knocked out of the middle man position as people are buying direct. It has become a tough business indeed.
Staying alive in this industry use to mean quality craftsmanship and reputation. Those two characteristics still apply, but also depend on financial support. Good companies have fallen to the wayside because of lack of financial support. Customers can't pay, vendors can't pay, manufacturers end up shutting down because they are not getting paid.
Necessity is the Mother of Invention. I believe that is true vice versa also. Compsys "Invention of Necessity" comes in the form of our patented PRISMA® Composite Preforms. We strive to make products for boat companies at a lower cost, easier installation, and better quality. We've succeeded. In lieu of the economic downturn we are looking to new horizons. Our product is more than just a panel or beam in a boat. It can be used in an array of applications outside of the marine industry. Just ask us.
We here at Compsys appreciate the wonderful customers we have maintained business with over the years, but also welcome new customers--and ideas--with a vision for our future.
ABOUT US
COMPSYS, Inc. is a closely held business specializing in the manufacture of the patented PRISMA® Composite Preforms. Since its founding in 1992, COMPSYS has grown from a 1,200 sq. ft. facility to over 40,000 sq. ft.
PRISMA® Composite Preforms were first introduced and sold by COMPSYS in 1993. These products were custom-built stringers and bulkheads for recreational water craft. Since that time, several hundred thousand boats, and many other end item products, have been produced using PRISMA® products. PRISMA products compete as a lower cost alternative to fiberglass grid and wood systems.
Today, COMPSYS holds additional patents on the PRISMA® Preform Technology and Manufacturing process. Many new products and product line extensions have been introduced including new stock shapes known as PRISMA® Beams, Lumber, Fillets, Planks and Stringer Beams as well a resin infusion ready pre-forms.All operations, including our Corporate Headquarters and R&D Facility, are located in Melbourne, Florida.
